Seeking 1906, a one hour documentary, is a fascinating and sometimes humorous journey with best- selling author, Oxford trained geologist, and adventurer Simon Winchester as he researched his 18th book, A Crack in the Edge of the World: America and the Great California Earthquake of 1906.
Seeking 1906 was a co-production of KQED and Luna Park Productions and premiered on KQED in April 2006. Seeking 1906 aired on public television stations nationwide and is now available on DVD through PBS Home Sales and through Netlfix.
In May 2007 Kate Schermerhorn was awarded a Northern California Emmy for Outstanding Achievement as Director of Seeking 1906. The film was also nominated for Outstanding Achievement in the Historical/Cultural Program/Special category.
